WOW, time passes you by when you don’t pay attention. Each year my passion to shoot sports grows and grows. It first started out like everyone else, your kids playing sports. Now it’s a full blown addiction; wondering when the next game is or wondering when you can get some new lens or camera. Before my daughter started playing volleyball I never thought of shooting it. But now that she’s playing and I’m on my second season of shooting Varsity Volleyball, I am hooked. Plainwell has a great program for volleyball and their games are always jam packed with movement. They keep you guessing so much that you miss the shot because you thought it was going somewhere else. My initial goal was to try catching some other sports this season. This year was a first for me shooting Varsity Football. I had fun trying to keep track of where the ball was going and shooting under stadium lights. Fortunately our school has decent lighting and I eventually gave up on using a flash at the games and went for the ambient light shots. Basketball season is quickly approaching and with my daughter playing I for sure will be grabbing as many photos as I can of that.
Plainwell’s Varsity Volleyball team won the Wolverine Conference for the 6th straight season advancing to District play and winning for the 3rd straight season. As of this writing we are headed to regional play in a couple days and I will be there to photograph the action.
