I spy the Moon……..oh wait is that dust on the lens?

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

No, that’s Jupiter.  It wasn’t until I was in looking at my photos on the screen that I realized there was a star up there too.  So after some digging I found out it was Jupiter.

From Abrahm’s Planetarium Night Sky Notes:

Sunday, January 17, 2010
The thin crescent Moon is to the lower right of Jupiter. Look for the pair in the WSW at dusk. Jupiter is shining bright at -2nd magnitude. Neptune, at 8th magnitude, is to the lower left of the Moon, but requires a telescope to be seen.

SilverEfex Pro Experiment

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

Was looking thru some old pictures tonight and happened across some of my old lighthouse pictures.  I had the thought of…..”I wonder what that would looking in Black and White?”.  So off I went with several images into SilverEfex Pro 3.0.  Of all the Nix Software applications this is one of my favorites.   One of the built in presets is “Cyanotype”.  Cyanotype was a popular process in the 20th century engineering world (Blueprints).  Since this particular image was taken on a very cold February evening, I thought the blue cast gave the picture a cold feel.  ENJOY!

Another night on top the hill…….another beautiful sunset.

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

What the heck have I been doing the past 2 weeks since my last post.  Beats the heck outta me.  Sports haven’t started yet……..so it can’t be that.  It was hot and muggy the last two weekends, so I stayed inside and enjoyed the A/C.  Oh well, tonight I was graced with another beautiful sunset atop of Hickory Hill.  I wasn’t really paying that much attention tonight what I saw when it caught my eye was the under surfaces of the clouds just washed with an amazing array of pinks.  By the time I got out there though, the intensity had died down a bit.
